There are many online services for artist, I have put together a selection of interesting things you may find helpful in furthering your career as an artist. If you don't have access to a computer use your local internet café, and buy a computer ASAP as it will open many opportunities all over the world.
PACE Program - Pathways to Arts and Cultural Employment In November 1999, 'Uniquely New Zealand' set out the Labour Party's policy on how creative industries can make a significant contribution to New Zealand's social and economic well-being. It further recognised that the employment potential in the cultural sector is significant and that by delivering appropriate support to the sector, significant growth can be achieved in a sustainable way.In August 2001, following a discussion between Minister's Maharey and Tizard, the 'Pathway to Arts and Cultural Employment' (PACE) initiative was developed and agreed to. PACE was launched by Minister's Maharey and Tizard on 9 November 2001 and became effective from 12 November 2001. The aim of PACE is to assist job seekers willing and able to pursue a career in the arts and creative industries to move to wards sustainable employment and self-sufficiency. EMAIL If you don't have an email address there is a great service from Goggle that is free. Visit: www.gmail.com make sure your email address is something you don't mind sending to clients. With gmail you get to store larger amounts of data and because it is newer than some of the other email servers you are more likely to get the name you want. It is good to keep a reference of your emails to look back at from time to time.
Goggle also have free photo software download for all your photo's called Picasa it is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organised by date with folder names you will recognise. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organised.
